Been Awhile...

Yes, it has been a long time (Over a year.) since I have posted or checked in here. I am going to try to post in here more often. I am not sure anyone is listening, but it will just be a cathartic outlet for myself.
I just returned from a long journey to Topeka for Chris' court date. Then we continued out East to Ava, Missouri to retrieve the last of our belongings that were still in storage there.
It was good to leave that chapter behind. Closing the door on that part of my life felt good. Like I had made the right decision.
Honestly though being in Topeka made me keep wanting to head just a bit North to the Prairie Band Rez. I was looking continually for evidence of my Ancestors & only saw casino billboards.
I didn't stay long in Topeka as we were on a different mission, but I am confident if we ad stayed longer that 12 hours I would of encountered more information/connection. Topeka is not that far from here. (About an 8 hour drive.) So, maybe I can make another visit to the area. The drive through Kansas is so long though. I dread it every time.
I found an interesting website though http://www.wiskigeamatyuk.com/ that I am going to do some more researching on.
Back to work today & looking forward to Halloween with the boys.
I am also looking forward to working some more on my website & group & this blog.

1789: An "Act Providing for the Expences Which May Attend Negotiations or Treaties with the Indian Tribes, and the Appointment of Commissioners for Managing the Same" is approved by the United States.

 

8/20: Birth of the White Buffalo (1994), signaling the return of White Buffalo Woman (manifestation of Star Goddess Wohpe) who gave the sacred peace pipe to the Lakota people. [Lakota rites include smoking the sacred pipe, purification in the sweat lodge, and making a vision quest for wisdom.]
